Autoimmunity Living

How is it possible to gain 5 pounds over Spring Break? And then I see this picture that reminds me of those decadent choices I made and allowed myself to enjoy the moment. (I promise I didn’t eat these all in 1 sitting. It took me 3 days. 😬😉) Has anyone tried @reveriebakeshop in Richardson, Texas. These were all #glutenanddairyfree (and technically vegan!). The pumpkin cinnamon roll was amazing, maple pecan scone, sprinkled cake donut, and an oatmeal whoopie pie (move over Little Debbie, these were so good!)

But in all seriousness, many of you know that I (Dr. Parker) have had my own health struggles of Crohn’s, autoimmunities, POTS, arrhythmia, and more. It is very easy for me to become super consumed with me trying to “control” everything that I can (such as my diet, my work load and more) because I feel such a fear of losing control on my health. I feel like I miss out on the little moments because I am worried about the “what if’s” next. Does anyone else feel this way? So I chose to enjoy my Spring Break in my favorite ways, spending time with the people I love and through food. I regret adding 5 pounds of bloat and the other accumulation of stuff (💩) because of those choices, but I gained back just a little of that freedom to just ENJOY LIFE in those moments. Now I am back to my grain free diet, but I will definitely be back to try other goodies from this treasure of a bakery the next time I am on that side of town.
